21st Century Italian Society on Screen

Speaker: Dr William Hope – Lecturer in Italian Language and Cinema at the University of Salford 

An overview of the key themes that have emerged in Italian cinema; the talk (in English) will examine the representation of women on screen, the depiction of Italy's different regions and the perspectives on other continents that have emerged in recent Italian films. Followed by a Q&A session (in English and Italian).

Venue: 9th floor, Italian Consulate, 111 Piccadilly, Manchester M1 2HY – for security reasons the building entrance will be closed at 6.50pm.

The presentation will be followed by a social gathering with drinks.

The film will be introduced by Silvana Serra, and more discussion at the end.
